What is the controller?
The controller deals with the financial day to day operations of the company.
- They supervise the bookkeeping staff.
- The review the financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement (Profit & Loss) and possibly the Statement of Cash Flows on probably a monthly or quarterly basis.
- They prepare the Job Cost statements on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly basis depending on your preference.
- Many times they are the one that setup the accounting system.
Why do you have a controller? You do that to keep you bookkeeper posting things correctly and to review the basic accuracy of your books.
